We get a lot of questions from brides and grooms about wedding planning, and we’re always happy to help. Here are answers to a few of the most frequent ones we hear—many of which you’ll find helpful no matter where you host your wedding. (We might be just a little biased, but we really think you should have it at The Ranch.)
Q: Do we need to know our budget when starting to look at wedding venues?
A: It’s not required, and many couples start looking before they know how much they want to spend. That’s perfectly fine, but even at the very beginning of your search, having a budget in mind makes the planning process much easier. It’s more exciting, too, because you’ll be able to truly visualize the event, the venue, the food, and more, instead of wondering what will be possible. Of course, roughing out a budget means you need to have an idea of how many people will be attending—and as helpful as we are, we can’t tell you if Great Aunt Edna should make the list or not. Good luck!
Q: Do we really need a wedding planner?
A: Do you really want to shoulder the burden of planning everything? If so, more power to you! But we strongly recommend a wedding planner—or a coordinator, if you want light assistance but are willing to do some of the heavy lifting on your own. Why? Because your wedding should be all about you, an event where you can relax, be pampered, and have fun. It’s a lot harder to do that if you’re worried about timelines, logistics, and all the little things that need to go right to make the day perfect. We think wedding professionals are worth their weight in gold, in part because they know the things you might not know about the process. They’re the best support system you can have in bringing your vision to life, a trusted advisor who can guide you in the right direction. (They’ve been known to provide a bit of therapy from time to time for stressed-out brides, too.)
Q: If I need a wedding planner, what does Carmel Valley Ranch provide?
A: We work closely with your wedding planner (more so than many other venues) to keep you on track, but with a primary focus on the venue and catering side of things. We’ll recommend preferred vendor partners to build your wedding dream team, individuals and companies who we trust based on our experiences with them. And throughout the lead-up to the event, we will have formal check-ins and truly collaborate with you in order to ensure you have everything you need. Whether you hire a planner or not, our goal is to provide the most seamless—and even enjoyable—planning process possible.
